Two of Georgia’s more famous celebrities will be taking to the dance floor this summer for a brand new season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’. In a press release on Sunday evening, ABC announced the addition of a new dancing duo comprised of Skillet Licker bass player, Larry Nash, and celebrity chef, Paula Deen. The two are sure to turn some heads in the upcoming season, which is expected to launch this June.
“We’re gonna go out there and give it all we got,” says Nash, who said he jumped at the opportunity to dance with Deen, who has always been a fan of Nash’s music. “I’ve been to many Skillet Licker shows, and let me tell you… he is the real deal. I’ve been a long time fan of Larry’s,” says Deen.
While the two have mutual admiration for one another, they have never formally met — until now. While the two are both in their early 70’s, Nash expects the two to win it all. “I’ve always been an incredible dancer, light on my feet. Not to mention, I’m good looking… and I’m a dang good bass player, so I can keep a good rythm. Should be a piece of cake.”
Tom Bergeron, host of Dancing with the Stars, calls this one of the “greatest things to ever happen for the franchise”, saying, “we’ve got folks like Beyonce and Justin Timberlake on the show this season, but we’ve never had star power like Larry Nash. This will be huge for the show and ratings will surely be through the roof.”
Nash and Deen are expected to head to Los Angeles in early June to begin practice and will begin taping two weeks later.
