Skillet Lickers set to reunite with Levi Lowrey on Sunday

It’s been over a year since Levi Lowrey and the Skillet Lickers shared the stage for a sold-out album release party at the Red Clay Music Foundry in Duluth, GA. This Sunday, the band and Lowrey — whose rich, shared musical tradition spans generations — will be together once again for an outdoor, hometown show at the Dacula Concert Amphitheater.

Lowrey, a renowned singer-songwriter whose most popular songwriting work landed him a CMA award nomination (for his role in writing the hit song, ‘Colder Weather’), will be back where his musical career began — in his hometown of Dacula. “Many people are unaware that Levi actually shares a lot of the same history as us,” Russ Tanner of the Skillet Lickers says. Levi Lowrey is a direct descendant of Gid Tanner, a great-great grandson to be exact. “Levi grew up around this music and even played with us from time-to-time as a kid… so it’s always great to share the stage with him, especially after all the success he’s experienced.”

While Lowrey has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Country music, the hometown Skillet Lickers will always hold a soft spot for him. In fact, Lowrey recorded an entire disc (one disc as a part of a two-disc album) last year, with the Skillet Lickers accompanying him. The album was even recorded in the band’s historic music hall, where Lowrey would often perform as a young, aspiring musician. The album recording (and subsequent release show) was one of the first joint appearances by the two acts since 2013, when the band welcomed Lowrey to their amphitheater in Dacula.

This Sunday, May 28th, he will return as a part of the band’s 2017 Music Night series at the Dacula Concert Amphitheater. Lowrey will also become the first artist to perform twice in the five-year old series. The hometown show will begin at 7pm with the Skillet Lickers opening the show, followed by Levi Lowrey. The band also plans to perform a few songs with Lowrey.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Music Night series, “it’s an opportunity to kick back and relax in a picturesque setting beneath the shade with friends and family, all while enjoying delicious barbecue, great music, and fun… it’s truly a great, entertaining, and affordable night for the entire community,” says Russ Tanner.

Tickets for the event, like all prior Music Nights, are only $10 and can be purchased HERE! The amphitheater is located at 2652 Auburn Ave., Dacula, GA. Gates will open at approximately 5 p.m.
